Millard H. Pryor Remembered

Millard H. Pryor

We note with sadness the passing of Millard H. Pryor of Richmond and West Hartford, Connecticut on March 1, 2005, at the age of 71. Together with Claire, his wife of 42 years, Mr. Pryor lent talent and support to many arts institutions in Connecticut and the Berkshires. His contribution to Berkshire conservation will last forever. In 1995, working with the Resources Council and the Richmond Land Trust, Mr. Pryor and his brother Frederic conserved and donated Stevens Glen for public use. The CouncilÕs walking trail to the glen and its roaring waterfall opened a couple of years later. One hundred years ago Romanza Stevens charged visitors 25 cents a head to see the glen. Thanks to Mr. Pryor, this deep and misty cascade is protected and open to the public, free of charge.
