Carrying on the tradition of BNRC Rice Fellows, Torben Russo and Kristin Sanzone joined BNRC in 2005 and put in a full summer of work monitoring conservation restrictions and BNRC preserves, repairing trails, inventorying invasive plants and making the office a little more enjoyable to work in. Unlike prior interns, however, Kristin and Torben started work at BNRC in January! They joined the team as part of a volunteer internship from Berkshire Community College's Environmental Program. We pride ourselves on the rigor we put our interns through, and the winter start date allowed even more abuse. But these two are strong, and after snowshoeing through waist deep snow on Lenox Mountain, keeping smiles on their faces, we knew they were keepers and hired them to fill the 2005 Rice Fellowships. Torben has now moved on to Cornell University where he is earning a degree in Agriculture and Plant Science, while Kristin has started her first semester at Antioch New England Graduate School in Environmental Education. Thank you Kristin and Torben for a great summer and good luck in your future endeavors!
