BNRC announces the new Whiting River Preserve

photo
Road frontage protected with Whiting River

BNRC's new Whiting River Preserve in New Marlborough includes over 1600 feet of frontage on both sides of the Whiting River. The property was donated by the Knox Trail Company, Inc., photoa development company that created several lots along Campbell Falls Road. Much of the donated property is too steep and rocky for development, but offers great hiking and fishing opportunities. This reach of the Whiting River is fast moving and cold - perfect habitat for native brook trout. The Whiting River Preserve is adjacent to Campbell Falls State Park, a Connecticut State Park preserved in 1923. BNRC is pleased to add this to the list of properties that will be open to the public for recreational purposes.
