BNRC builds new trail at historic Basin Pond
With help from the Lee Land Trust, the Resources Council celebrated the opening of its new trail at Basin Pond in East Lee on November 4. The trail offers a relaxed 2.1 mile loop-and-spur tour through a landscape of stone, wetland, and historic tragedy.
Hardy family conserves 63 Alford acres

This spring Louise Hardy and her brother Rolf, both long time residents of Alford Valley, donated a conservation restriction on 63 acres on East Road in Alford. The Hardy conservation restriction was donated jointly to BNRC and the Alford Land Trust.

New law expands CR’s tax benefits
It turns out that 2006 and 2007 will be very good years to preserve your land! On August 17, 2006 the President signed into law significant new tax incentives for conserving land.
Beetle release to combat purple loosestrife For years, plant scientists have searched for a natural enemy of purple loosestrife, a prime threat to wetlands systems. Three European beetles, including Gallerucella spp, were found to feed and breed exclusively on purple loosestrife.
