RESOURCES REPORT BERKSHIRE NATURAL RESOURCES COUNCIL | ||
| VOLUME 16 | WINTER 2008 | NO. 1 |
Would you buy a used-car lot from this organization?
We give our properties file numbers that correspond with the order in which they were acquired, and we’re pleased to include this photo of our most recent purchase, File No. 223, a property on Route 8 in Cheshire that is blessed with wetlands, a stream and frontage on Hoosac Lake – and, oh yes, a used car lot and mini-golf course. Before we are accused of “mission creep,” we want to assure all our friends that the cars and putters are all gone, and the property is being transformed by the state Department of Conservation & Recreation into a maintenance facility for the adjacent Ashuwillticook Rail Trail. The previous owners, Edward and Sally Walden, wanted to sell faster than the Commonwealth could make the money available, so BNRC stepped in to bridge the gap, closing one of our more interesting preacquisitions on January 31. We anticipate conveying the land to DCR by the end of March, and expect that before too long bicycles will far outnumber vehicles on this 3.3 acre parcel. Resource Report is published by the Berkshire Natural Resources Council 20 Bank Row, Pittsfield, MA 01201. (413)499-0596 info@bnrc.net
