Wind Power in the Berkshires? See BNRC position statement

Royal Hemlock Road

picture
“View of Tyringham Valley and the Beartown Mountain plateau.”

Rising up from winding Hop Brook, Beartown Mountain dominates Tyringham’s southerly landscape.  BNRC and the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife have been working hard to conserve these scenic landmarks.  Helped by the generosity of the Howard and Hudson families, BNRC and DFW have protected over 680-acres on the Monterey and Tyringham town line.  Vast acres of northern hardwood forests stretch from agricultural fields to the top of the Beartown Mountain Plateau, where rolling terrain rich in cultural history awaits any explorer.

Stone walls, cellar holes, and the abandoned mountain path of Royal Hemlock Road remind visitors that these woods have been the home of generations before us.  With proper care these natural and cultural resources will be a home for generations more to come.
